Goals and Objectives

  • Expanding the organization and increasing the number of members, identifying the second and third generations, and strengthening ties with the descendants of the community scattered around the world (especially in the United States and Argentina).
  • Collectingand concentrating documents, certificates, photos and other material of historical value and sentiment relating to Siedlce Community. By collecting this and uploading it to the organization’s website, the realization of the vision will be advanced.
  • Locating1st Generation members who were born in Siedlce, and haven’t yet given their testimonies. Encouragement to write down memories, grasping this last chance to preserve personal and family stories.
  • Organizing yearly “Shorashim” journeys to The journeys will be plannedso enough time is allocated to visit Siedlce and its environment, and enabling those interested in doing so to locate families’ addresses and to visit the city’s archive. A tour to Treblinka, where most members of the community were destroyed will be organized.
  • Helppreparing family trees and genealogy research of community members.
  • Organizationof meetings from time to time for community members, including meeting of the different generations, hearing stories of the 1st generation, and strengthening the connection and the affinity to the community among the 2nd and 3rd At these gatherings the 2nd and 3rd generations’ members will have the opportunity to ask questions, identify Photos from family albums and more.
  • In particular- Once a year a meeting shall be organized to be an annual event of “Yizkor for the community of Siedlce.
  • Publishinga quarterly bulletin that will be sent to all organization’s members with updates, stories, photos and more items relating to the community.
  • Rehabilitationand rescue of the Jewish cemetery in Siedlce. The Committee shal initiate actions to achieve cooperation with responsible entities in Siedlce that may help to save the area of the cemetery, which is now in jeopardy in light of the local plans threatening it. The current situation in the cemetery is shocking and intensive activity is required for this purpose.
  • Cooperation withSiedlce Municipality in converting an existing building to the museum and a memorial to the Jews of Siedlce.
  • Preservation, maintenance and expansion of the organization’s website. This requires assistance from the community’s members – whether in locating and supplying new documents and photographs for scanning and publishing, or in donations – for the purpose of the continued operations, upgrades, translations etc.
